Bruce Kalver’s Magical Life
Bruce Kalver’s Magical Life
2010
In 1977, a freelance writer followed me for two months to do a story about my magic career for the Rhode Islander Magazine. At the same time, another writer was doing a story about magicians in RI. When my article was passed in, the editor cancelled it in favor of a story about many magicians. The writer who followed me all this time was very upset and apologized to me. The writer handed me an envelope with the article and photos/negatives and said " I'm sorry. Enjoy the article. Do whatever you want with it. Good luck on your magic career. I know you will succeed.”
I put the envelope in a file cabinet and never looked at it.
In March of this year, we were cleaning up from a flood in my basement when I discovered the envelope. It was time to look at it. I find it interesting to see where I was and what I became. If you want to see me wearing 1970's jumpsuits, an Afro hair style, and no beard, take a look! Click on the article below.
