In this series of photos, for several of the pictures, the photograph was taken with two exposures: normal, and then darker. The darker underexposed photos often have a more dramatic appearance. The camera attempts to define what is an ideal exposure for the picture, but sometimes the photo would be too bright; causing the colors to be washed out.
