The Jayco Bay Cycling Classic, the world’s fastest criterium series, is about to come of age and celebrate its 21st birthday. And we plan to celebrate.
Jayco, Australia's leading caravan manufacturer, will again present a world class field in the four-day Jayco Bay Cycling Classic starting on the Geelong’s beautiful Eastern Gardens on Saturday January 2, a separate circuit in Eastern Gardens on Sunday January 3, which will include Amy’s Ride. Geelong’s exciting Ritchie Boulevard Hot Dog circuit will host the penultimate day on January 4, and the grand finale will be held in Williamstown on Tuesday Jan 5.
Sunday will be the fifth edition of Amy’s Ride. This wonderful recreational ride will again give thousands of cycling fans the unique opportunity to ride along with the stars of the Jayco Bay Cycling Classic as well as raise funds for the Amy Gillett Foundation. It’s not a race - it’s a fun ride where you get to rub shoulders with the stars of world cycling.
There will be a wrap-up celebration in Williamstown after the final race and a get-together function on Tuesday (5 January) evening at a venue to be finalised.
For the first time, next January’s event will also have a team’s race in the men’s support event.
Amy's Ride will be held on Sunday 3 January 2010 - before Stage 2.
