In 2007, when Austin Amateur Golf was established the goals were to provide local tournament information, help the local tournaments with tee times and rank the local amateurs. The Austin area has some very well run long standing tournaments and the ranking system that I have set up is weighted towards those events in order to drive competitive play among Austin's top amateur golfers.

Austin Amateur Golf is a non-profit organization which supports events like the Rudy’s I-35 Cup and The Amateur at Shadowglen which are both fundraisers for charity. The Rudy’s I-35 Cup supports Habitat for Humanity of Austin and The First Tee of San Antonio. The Amateur at Shadowglen supports the Ronald McDonald House. AAG also supports the local tournaments listed on the 2011 Tournament Schedule.

Through the points system that is established we will determine the Amateur of the Year, Junior of the Year, Mid-Am of the Year and Senior of the Year. In 2011 a points system will be in place to determine Female of the Year and Female Mid-Am of the Year.

Amateurgolf.com provides a very comprehensive ranking both for state and national events.
