Our ultimate goal is to eventually go on one of the epic treks in a distant land... like Nepal, South America, Africa, or Europe! This would be a big undertaking, though, that would take about a year of preparation. We’re talking a trip that usually consists of 15-25 days of backpacking! But we are starting slow and gentle. We’ve been on a few car camping trips to various camp grounds, but over the last 3 days we’ve been backcountry car camping in Sedona (a big step for Jenn... no toilets, showers, or electricity... not to mention no people around for miles!). She did great, though, and wants to go again soon! Jasper loved it! He got to run around all day... although, he seemed to be really scared of the dark!! Funny dog! I guess he had never spent a night outside before! On Monday we hiked up a plateau called “Doe Mountain”, which was just a couple of miles from our campsite. Beautiful hike that took about 3 hrs. Our new “Big Agnes” tent and “Kelty” sleeping bags worked magnificently! Can’t wait to camp more!

We spent all day in Jack’s Canyon climbing! Jenn climbed one route, and I climbed 5. I lead my first 5.8 outdoors! I’ve lead one 5.8 route indoors, but the toughest thing I’ve climbed outside was a 5.7. I also attempted a classic 5.9 route named “Mickey Goes to Vegas”. I fell twice, one was a pretty significant fall of about 12 ft. Jenn did great catching me, though, so all is well. I never did send the route, so it was a bit of a let down. Oh well... next time maybe.

Last night was good for me... but busy for Jenn. Hopefully tonight will be great for us both! By the way... skiing with Katie on Tuesday was fantastic! There was fresh pow on the mountain, and I didn’t break anything! Yay! She was amazing to watch! Such confidence! I learned a lot, though, and feel that I’m getting better every time out! Wednesday me and Jenn hit the slopes, and I was able to teach her some of what I’ve been learning! We both had a blast! Alright, well, off to work I go!

Delayed Valentines Day

Saturday just wasn’t good for us... and we couldn’t get a reservation at any of the good restaurants! So today is Valentines! Happy Valentines Day everyone!! I’m planning on giving Jenn roses and, of course, the cheesy card... then maybe we’ll take a hike. She LOVES to hike Sedona! Later, we’ll get all dressed up, and head out for a bite to eat. This Valentines my goal is to be as close as possible to the man Jennifer actually deserves. I’ll never make it there fully. She is such a better person than me... than anyone I know, actually. Pray that God will mold me to be the man of her dreams.

So, have you guys missed me?? I thought I’d try my hand at this blogging thing once more. No promises, but we’ll see where it goes. Since my last blog a ton has happened! We’ve had visits from Phillip and Anita, Jack, Amber, Both sets of parents, and Julie & Family. During my time away from the blog world we also got a puppy! His name is Jasper and he’s way too cute! We’ve also done a whole bunch of cool things... too many to try and list. Most recently we’ve gone on multiple day hikes in Sedona, and played in the snow in Flagstaff. Yesterday we went snow skiing with a couple of friends from work. Absolute blast!! The guy we skied with used to be on ski patrol, and is now an ER Nurse. I learned a lot about skiing variable terrain on double blacks. Good thing, too, because Tuesday I’m planning on going up on the mountain with a girl named Katie Monohan. Katie’s a good friend, and a coworker. She also happens to be a TWO TIME OLYMPIAN FOR DOWNHILL SKIING! Yeah... ah... yeah... so pray for me on Tuesday, would ya.
