‘Twas the Night Before...
‘Twas the night before...General Convention
And all through the House
Not a bishop was stirring...
Well, I am writing just before bed and the beginning of the brutal schedule that is General Convention.
What will this one look like when we wake on July 18? The answer seems as unclear as my photo of the far view from my hotel window. But we shall resolve, and caucus, and legislate, and debate. We shall pray and take Eucharist together, and sing, too.
In the long run, this will be the most important. Convention reveals the extraordinary diversity of The Episcopal Church. Despite its size, we have it all. From the rainbow-festooned to the black-on-black. The Left and the Right, and everyone in between. The Low, the High, the Broad. The southerners and the northeners and the westerners. And the non-Americans of the eleven dioceses and one Convocation outside CONUS. Plus the visitors from around the globe.
As I am able, Gentle Reader, I shall report what I experience. I did so for the Lambeth Conference, on a daily basis.
But Convention is harder. Pray for us, please.
