Teleport App Enables Second Life Access via iPhone 3G
Spent $24.95 on the new TELEPORT app (click for website) from Jugaari in iTunes today and within 5 minutes, I was inside Second Life with my avatar flying around (once I figured out how to stop the iphone from resizing screen every time I double-tapped --had to use the built-in on screen SL mvt tool)
How is this possible, you say? Well...the TELEPORT app allowed me to access my home computer via Wi-Fi (their website claims that it is possible to do this same “back to my mac” trick from anywhere). I simply used my iPhone to launch Second Life software residing on my home computer (Mac Power PC G5 running 10.4)
I even met up with another avatar (thanks, TopGun) on the Educator’s Coop (University of Texas) and was able to chat right from my iPhone. There was absolutely no lag. My iphone screen refreshed every time my computer screen changed. Not sure how this is going to do from a more remote 3G access, but the website says it’s possible. Way cool...
Grabbed a couple of screenshots to share..check it out and let me know what y’all think!
