Superstars are interesting not because they are famous, but because they are just you and me on a pedestal, with all their laundry and history and baggage and barely concealed bitter honesty hung out in the open air for us to pick at and examine. Our interest is not because of who they are, but because of who we are. And talking about their issues, we get to talk in the third person about our own, without necessarily admitting what it is that cuts us.
