Our ambition here at Fnosk is to assemble a list of the most prominent works of mountaineering literature, timeless classics as well as new additions to the genre. By providing reviews and handy links to online merchants such as Amazon, we hope to guide and inspire collectors as well as new generations of readers.

The mountaineering and alpinism genre is considered by many to be a niche market, and can as such be difficult to navigate. Most sites focus on new releases rather than classics and many of the best works are out of print and difficult to get you hands on. Our hope is that this list can help you decide which book to read next or, better yet, to find new and exciting works for your own collection.

The reviews are listed in the order in which they where added to fnosk.net, not in order of importance or quality. We have also focused exclusively on books that are available in English.
