The ‘Cast is back. Finally. I was sort of leery about bringing this story to audio, but I leave it for you to decide how the final product came out. This one is inspired by a number of both humorous and tragic true stories I’d heard around the time of my own wedding. It wasn’t until 2003 that the ideas brewing in my head found form in this short story. And now I’ve dusted it off for your listening pleasure. nfp.

Recorded mid-2008, I’m just now releasing this retelling of the old fairy tale.

I had planned to complete Part II before feeding the first part, but I’ve not even completed the script in all these months. I’ve been wondering why this is.

It’s not laziness; I wrote, adapted, and produced the MuseionCast pretty religiously throughout most of 2008, so that wasn’t it. I guess I’ve always been more concerned with the opening of this tale - how everything started well and went so wrong, and yet feel very little for the conclusion.

When I start to care about the revenge, retribution, and resolution of this tale, I’ll finish the script, record and mix the results. Then you can hear how it all comes out.

Until then, though, all I have for you is “The Juniper Tree,” Part I.

To celebrate the release of his new book (and to put off my own writing even longer), I’m extremely happy to present this story on MuseionCast.

Christian Dumais is an American living and working in Poland. He’s a sharp dresser, has a beautiful wife, and owns a dog with a cool name. You can find his book of stories, EMPTY ROOMS LONELY COUNTRIES, at Amazon.com. Look it up by title or author and you will find it. And you’ll be glad you did, seriously.

This year’s feed has started with a trickle and will continue that way for a while, with one or two casts per month. But things will pick up in May, and I may go back to weekly releases. The reason for the delays is that I’ve managed to land some roles in a few audio plays currently in production. I won’t say what they are right now, but as these are released I’ll be tying them into the MuseionCast.

Right now, though, enjoy “Geneva Street.” If you like it, buy the book. And don’t forget to give MuseionCast an iTunes vote and review, and remember to Digg the podcast often.
