PRESENT: B. Vint, D. Morales, Mónica Estigarribia Pérez [visiting architect from Asunción, Paraguay] ,MRB crew [Vincent & Sonny Morales, Santiago Gomez, Freddy Garcia, Jorge Gomez]
DISCUSSED: Schedule for summer; Maintenance @ drum & cornice of cupola; progress on West Transept – west wall nearing completion; maintenance pof parapets & volutes @ West Transept.
WORK IN PROGRESS: Plaster patching @ top & front edge of cornice @ drum; tinting of finials.

Site Visits & Meetings of 2.03.09, 2.17.08, 03.02.09, and 3/17/09 (D. Morales, B. Vint)

(A.1) 2.03.09 SITE MEETING (11:00 a.m., 60º, cloudless)
PRESENT: B. Vint, D. Morales & Vern Lamplot
DISCUSSED: Cessation of AHF Grant and impact on scope of work and schedule; plan to begin east tower is now infeasible due to limited funding available. Jim Pyers requests through Vern that Morales Restoration & Builders scale back crew & costs to approx. $25K/month from the previous $32K (a reduction of a further 20% -- in 2007 we ran a budget of $40K/mo. on the west tower– hence overall cut = 37.5%). CURRENT SCOPE: Roof maintenance, drum & cupola.

Completion of West Bell Tower Stabilization
Site Visits & Meetings of 12.04.08, 12.18.08 and 01.13.09 (D. Morales, B. Vint)

(A.1) 12.04.08 SITE VISIT (9:00 a.m., 50º, light overcast)

PRESENT: B. Vint, D. Morales & crew of 5 (Sonny, Nick, Vincent, Santi & George)

WORK IN PROGRESS: A ton of work has been done – the entire crew is on overdrive, pushing for completion by the concerts! (1) Tinting of ornament at south wall (Sonny); (2) removing footings of scaffold for west tower (Nick); (3) earth fill & brick paving over depressions from footings (Santi & Vince).

DISCUSSED: (1) Schedule – on target for completion by Concert next Tues. 12.09.08 (2) Mesquite balcony balustrade installation complete; (3) Re. upcoming construction on Plaza for San Xavier District/Tohono O’odham Nation – must limit vibrations from excavations, prohibit use of jack-hammers on caliche or bedrock; (3) Start work on foundation repairs & drainage @ East Tower after Jan 19, 2009; (4) Begin w/ footings for scaffold, but no scaffolding to be erected until March 2009.

November 20, 2008 Period: 10.17.08 – 11.20.08

West Bell Tower Stabilization

WORK IN PROGRESS: (1) Tinting of canales at west (George) (2) Plaster relief work @ south openings (Sonny); (3) scaffold erection @ west wall of Nave and; (4) Breakdown scaffold @ west tower (Vince & Santi). (5) Repair of plaster at southeast corner of choir loft vault where finish coat had blistered and detached; repair confined within expansion joints (Freddy).

DISCUSSED: (1) Schedule – on target for completion be year’s end; (2) Plaster @ Bell Floor now
complete; (3) Fill-in items in interim between west & east towers: brick paving @ atrium of church;
(4) Work for coming year 2009; to be confirmed at Patronato meeting of 11/20/08.
