Owen O’Connor
2009
A native of Raheny, photographer Owen O’Connor has set up a designated photographic studio and workspace in The Red Stables.
Since graduating from the Dun Laoghaire College of Art & Design, Owen worked initially in the commercial design industry and is now an award-winning photographer working on a range of projects including landscapes, figures, portraits, private commissions and commercial work.
His work has appeared in a range of publications including The Star, Irish Tatler, Sunday World, Weddings Irish Style, The Irish Wedding Diary, The Examiner and Evening Herald. The quality of his work has been recognised by industry awards such as IPPA (Avante Garde Portrait Image of the Year 2008) and SWPP & BPPA (Portrait Photographer of the Year 2007).
Owen believes photography should be treated as an art form and it requires thought and skill to produce an original quality print. He will use The Red Stables as a designated workspace to develop, plan and administer existing projects and he hopes The Red Stables’ creative and artistic ethos will inspire new projects. He believes the venue is an ideal location to exhibit his work as finished framed projects.
Owen is delighted to be given the opportunity to share in this creative space and is excited to see how The Red Stables will influence and shape the next chapter in his photographic career.
