She was known for being a loud, funny, free, and fierce force of nature, with a shining spirit, and generous soul. Who she reached and touched in our city of New Orleans was as diverse and interesting as she was.

Being a bartender in the French Quarter is no easy task, and she did it with a grace  and style are her own. Many of her tribe of friends met her as she was hurling drinks and telling amusing stories at several local drinking holes, often hearing her voice over the blaring jukebox from a block away. Her smoky and loud baritone vocals were one of her trademarks, and drew people off the street to find out who they were hearing from so far away. A patron would often have to wait a second while she finished telling a story before receiving their libation.

Here you will find pictures and stories of Wendy, who was killed in a violent crime on Saturday, January 17th, 2009, in the French Quarter of New Orleans, a few days before swearing in our new president. The loss we all feel at loosing Wendy will always be with us, as will our fond memories of her.

My name is Nicholas, and was one of her best friends. I would like you to send me your stories and photos about Wendy, so i can collect them here. At the bottom of all of these pages you will find a link to my email, feel free to send me what ever you would like to see here, and i will post it as I can.
