I purchased the rods and hardware to hang the curtains and got them on sale. I went over the one more time, just removing the threads that were everywhere-- I probably did not get them all. The finish to the curtains, is very rough, kind of like the salon-- they should go in there perfectly.
I started to wonder about what that really meant to me-- the rough finish could be a verb, but I am talking about the detailing, the outside texture, the exposed edge being left somewhat undone, maybe, of left intentionally in a rough draft state.
The reason the curtains are better left rough is that I didn’t design them practically, but only schematically and then I just cut the pieces by eye and sewed them together without pinning or ironing and did this over ad over until they looked like I imagined I wanted them to look. They aren’t square, or true, or level, so to try to put a detailed finish on them would more expose the true nature of the imperfection of free design.
I guess if you go to re-doing a house that jack built, you know exactly what I’m talking about-- some things are left a bit unfinished.
But what is next? What is next for a set of curtains that have all this time into them, and I think they are beautiful, but look at them! they aren’t finished! ha ha
