I got my first Flemish Giant, Money Bunny, (light grey) from Pam Arthur, PJ’s Rabbitry, and it was love at first site.  Since then, I got three does, one for Pam, from Tracy Adams out of Indiana, (blue, black) and then a robust young black buck, I named Spencer after the breeder from Smith Creek Rabbitry. Another large black buck, Jake from Pam, and I recently got my first two litters and we are very happy and pleased with our excellent new mothers, Eartha and Desdamona!!

My first Mini Rex was Many, a broken black from PJ’s and from Jo’s I got an awesome GC black doe, Odessa-- she has four GC on her pedigree and I love her!  She has given me Osirus, Champagne, and a broken, Opus.  I got Rosa from Erin Morgan at Country Roads who promises to be a top breeder of Castors.

I have a new holland lop baby doe now and so I guess I’m still breeding them.  We are working only with Sweetie and Winky now and Mole, the daughter or these two until we get a champion line into the herd... another year? until then we are staying only with the nicest and sweetest rabbits; I’m not keeping another mean rabbit for anything.

In English Angora, my main objectives are to pull together the rich texture and color of  AR Bluewater with the density of AR Peachfuzz.  He also has the compactness of the body and the short balanced ears, the fully furnished face on a nice flat nose and structured head.  I want to pull out some mistakes I made breeding into AA Deer vm and Grinlow’s Dewdrop vc, and Dustibunnies’ Othello, who as sweet as he is, has to carry BEW somewhere since he threw 7/18 kits with vm and or white toenails-- very disappointing, and I know now how breeding into vm can increase the numbers of pet quality, as opposed to show quality, rabbits.  And I want to increase the over all health and immunity of my rabbits and steer clear of rabbits with allergies as well as tendencies toward infection or mite infestation, or molting.  I must say that Othello has added some density into my herd with the negatives, Dewdrop has contributed beautiful texture and clean color.

After my first shows, I realized I needed to increase density with food additives, some new genes, and a change of my grooming techniques and schedules.  I have been spending time clarifying goals as well.  I want to improve the breeds that I carry.  For Angora, this means wool density and quality, body type and disposition.

In the Flemish Giant, I’m looking for balance and size, thick sturdy bones, and long ears--  and small round plush coats with small ears for the Mini Rex, but in both of these breeds, the calm disposition is so important.

So the goals are improve the breeds (including disposition), improve my garden soil, enrich the rabbits condition with cleanliness, exercise and fun, connect with the community, run a sustainable rabbitry, develop a cottage industry, and make valuable contributions to my world.
