Today, mama had new kits-- Holland Lops 3/2 means three were born and two are alive; she pulled a Lot of wool-- more than I’ve ever seen her do-- she must have heard me when I told her she better do well or it’s the block! Strong message I know, but after loosing so many litters, I was getting really irritated about feeding her so well-- so she had one out of the nest and I’m not sure what happened; it looked clean and maybe half fed; something might have spooked her and she jumped out of the nest with the newborn still attached-- things do happen and I do have a squirrel problem, or rather I am sharing a real problem the squirrels are having, and they throw stuff all over the place!
Wombat (Combat) is pulling wool for her nest too-- it’s her first litter and she has her wool in a nice tight group in the nest box, but no babies today.
Odessa’s kits are staying nice and warm and she is eating all her extra chow with vigor. she pulled some droppings from across the hutch and piled them into a mound around the nested babies-- a true Grand Champion-- keeping her little offspring toasty warm with compost heat. I LOVE IT.
I mucked all the Flemish Hutches completely out after reading the nest box left in the hutch too long can cause the eye problems-- so I pulled it all out and gave fresh straw that I hauled in my little car! hello
and I separated the kits from Desdamona and I’m looking in to how old they really have to be before selling-- because they are so big!! I can put her in with them for awhile everyday and then den them separate so everybody isn’t competing for food and water.
Tessora is rolling over for me now ha ha I think that’s so cute. I have her boyfriend picked out already but I want to do the chart anyway-- that’s Opal with Black but we are looking at the nice short round body and tight tiny ears with his incredible density and disposition, plus strong even coat with little tangling if at all and nice holding of prime condition-- he’s a hero among the EA that I have ever seen, and I adore him-- Othello.
I brought home a couple nest boxes to measure and build I HAVE to do that in the morning and then take the baby to the movie, run errands for the company, make the deposits, pick up a certified letter?? do I have to? pay three bills in person, Oh man, I’m so beat just thinking about it-- there is NO WAY I’m also getting gas for the generator, sunflower seed and a new metal can with bungies to protect it-- I’ll just have to meditate so I don’t get stressed out, and take ten minutes at a time-- inch by inch life’s a cinch...
and ten minutes just to sit and listen
to the trees
today I want to add how grateful i am for land and spring water, a long driveway and my varmit rifle... and with the biggest heartfelt happiness to my sons, Zack and Trevor, that are so beautiful, kind and sharp as tacks-- I love them so much!!
and my appreciation for my new friend Kim, who packs heat and know how to use a knife-- isn’t afraid to bring home the bacon, or go sledding on a LONG RUN, or wear a bikini :)
