Life is so sacred
so awesome a gift-- I look to Helen Keller just now-- not as What a Woman! but as, okay, step by step, we learn to overcome our own challenges and make our way, and share the MIRACLE of LIFE in all its SPLENDOR
I was so busy today and so happy at the Rabbitry, jut thinking about the Registar coming to visit-- I was cleaning the wool clumps and mucking the stalls with extra enthusiasm, raking here and there putting the food into the metal cans-- I have a really atrocious squirrel problem. Well, actually, the squirrels are having a very bad year thanks to big coal and the climate change- we had an early false spring last year and the oaks went to fruit early and then the frost and NO ACORNS, and hardly any squirrels-- but I have saved at least a den full out of my feed bins, but I’m not enjoying the persistence in drilling hoes into everyone of my nice bins, so I thought a gratitude list might put things into perspective:
oh, but I forgot- if I start a list, it won’t quit ha ha h
1. I am so very very thankful for my beautiful healthy daughter Na'Uanui, and the close loving relationship we have together.
2. I am so very thankful that I had her at home and bonded closely with her and have stayed with her everyday since and I am making it work, somehow someway so that I am raising my own baby.
3. I am so thankful of my mom, her strength of character, her persistence and moral fiber, and her work ethic, discipline and intelligence.
4. I am thankful for my dog, Boy, the greatest dog alive today.
5. I am thankful for my cat, Kitten, aka Tikken, who is a tremendous hunting energy and happy purring softness at my feet, and a quiet in my sleep (no critters).
6. I am thankful for my friends in Hawaii-- Sunwoman, Dr. Gair, Amber, Liza, Huelo, the Captain, Amy, Jan, Jungle George, and tita Pua'a, as well as JR and Earl who I think of with love, light and rainbows... and so many more kind faces and the mana and HA and Uncle Bully, and for Aunti Ku’ule, who now watches from heaven
7. I am thankful for the friends I am making now back in WV, Pam and Elaine, and even on FAcebook-- I really like the group Peakwater and the writings of journalist/photographer Jenna Cavelle.
8. I am so very thankful for my MiniCooper S convertible, and my new ICE tires-- love them-- I love the freedom and power of independent mobility they afford me.
9. the public library-- oh and how I miss the SF Main-- ha ha but any good well lighted place for books is a delight and treasure
10. I am thankful for the lessons I have learned about rabbits diseases, wool mites, frozen kits, malocclusion, unavoidable culling
11. I am so very thankful for the wonder in solitude, the peace in quiet moments, the magnificence of the woods, the incredible energy in the trees and leaves, even as they lie about on the ground, having finished but remembering their flight, wathcing as some swim into the breeze, hanging onto a wind song, chiming in the softest percussion.
12.I am thankful for the ARBA Registar who is driving so far into unknown territory to help the new breeder (me) register my rabbits, and get a full awareness of what it takes to be registered and what it takes to be a Registar.
13.it did it anyway-- I’m stuck in the list ha aha
