Yesterday, I was sure I had two blacks, two blues and five steel in the nest, but today there are three blues and one black and actually, maybe none are blue, because they all seem to be agouti, so perhaps the blues are actually light grey??? the tummies look white, and so the footpads and the steels seem to be in varying degrees of darkness. You got me when it comes to these new kits and their colors and genetics. i was reading about the alleles and loci and linkages and I can kind of remember some of it from college genetics and even mendelian principles and the pea flower experiments and the fruit flies in jars-- you know some people are just crazy with all the time they put into observation. One thing I know, keeping records makes a huge difference and I think it is worth doing-- paying attention and keeping records. Do you think this counts?
Weighed supplements for feed ratio calculations
calf manna and 18% pellets 12oz for 2 C, sweet horse is 10, rolled oats 9 and cardinal mix is 8; I’ll use these to figure my mixed feed cost per cup, then for different animals... per week/ lifetime/ year?? something like this
Groomed
Brownie-- she got out (loose)and was tusseled** replace hook and eye
Tweaker 5.10 2.5”
Cassiopeia- 6.08 3.5”has been chewing her wool; I agreed to get her a wall toy activity center with a dial to turn (arrow)
Isodora-- was squeaking a bit
Tessora-- 4.12 has matted her legs but they pull apart- wool is so silky and slippery
Cesna-- 4. 14oz and 4 inches of wool at topline; legs are matting and he is bored, pacing
Peachfuzz-- nice wool
Lancelot is a lynx, but his wool is coming in with very light bands-- very light-- his coat is beautiful, like oyster-shell. 6.06 and 3”; some people breed for darkening of these bands, but I like this much better than albino.
I still need to work up a grooming sheet-- someone sent me one but I can’t print it without buying a program and I think I might want to try something else first-- I’m not sure I want “numbers” I might want to use “intuit”.
Took pictures of Jake in order to build his page, and he bit me. He really latched on but he just got my jacket-- I was wearing 4 layers, thank you God. he weighs ten pounds.
