DS7 12.04 blue doe kindled (14.08)
BEAUTY 14.04 black buck 16.05
Ella 12.08 black doe 14.06
10EJ 8.04 Clyde black buck 12.14
EJ12 8.0 Rebecca black doe 12.10
Mistletoe blue doe 10.08
I’m trying to decide who and how much to breed. I know that I want to breed Beauty and Rebecca, my nicest black pairing, that have none of those annoying white hairs, and I’m waiting and hoping Rebecca will make size and be ready to breed in late January. She is very soft and very friendly and Beauty is friendly too and they are both laid back and calm.
I might also want to breed Beauty to Eartha
I want to breed Clyde with Ella. These two both have white hairs, but I am thinking if I double the black, maybe I can get nice solid black coats, OR I may learn that the white hairs travel for a long while.
The blue pair is Blue Mtn. with Mistletoe and I have to wait for her to come into her size and maturity. She is out of PJ’s Zoe, sister to Desdamona and Eartha, so she carries that same steel allele from the third generation, but she has BLUE-- who is legendary as WV’s biggest blue lover, heart heart and RIP. So I guess they are half first cousin, with Mistletoe bringing in Blue and Blue Mtn. bringing in Spencer, a lot of size and an rew, which Blue Mtn. does carry.
Money is Na’Ua’s pet and I might breed him later to Leslie, if Leslie is indeed a doe, the young rew kit has been adopted by my little daughter too, and I think we’ll keep it. Otherwise, I don’t really want to try breeding for steel or light grey right now.
Eartha can continue having litters, but I would like to concentrate on breeding for black with her, although I did get a true to color blue from her last litter, I want to watch to see if it develops ticking and to check the nails. the problem with breeding for blue with her is that the black kits come with blue eyes.
Ds7 has the white hairs and I would probably be best to sell her, but she does have size and she is a good mother, and good with my baby too.
Ella is getting aggressive, and has white hairs (even a couple maybe three, white spots) which is kinda like two strikes. I am already thinking about moving her into a smaller hutch to calm her some, but mostly I think she wants to be bred and Clyde would be the one to do it (above). December 15, he will be a senior and probably to weight, so I could breed her before the January breeding plan.
Mistletoe needs me to keep Blue Mtn for her for awhile until she gets some weight on her; I know that if bred too early, these FG will not come into full weight that is their true potential. Especially the blue, which seem to be on the smaller side sometimes, I just want to give that extra time to grow.
I want to keep kits from Beauty and Rebecca, and I want to keep kits from Mistletoe and Blue Mtn. I want to keep a nice blue from the kits that are just making 35 days, but I do think I need to start rotating some of the rabbits to 4H or other start-ups? but do I want to share a rabbit with white hairs? Even Eartha has some white hairs.
