The Visit
The Visit

I was really excited to have my parents come visit this past week. It’s always nice for them to have a picture in their minds of where we are and what we are up to. They really liked everything they saw and experienced while they were here.
We spent one day on Mt. Lemon, exploring the rocks, having lunch, and marveling that something that cool is so close to us. I still can’t get over driving up the mountain and seeing the changing vegetation and feeling the temperature drop. We stopped at one “vista” and read that driving that road allows you to see all the types of terrain and vegetation present between Mexico and Canada! Now that’s cool. From 40 foot saguaro to pine trees it would take 3 people connected to put their arms around the trunk - truly amazing.
Unfortunately, my parents were not able to come to Revolution, but they were around to help with Friday night set up. After the first couple of weeks, when I had no idea where anything went or how the system worked best, I haven’t really thought about it being too much work. It really is a joy to me to be a part of creating a place for people to experience Jesus and find their way back to God. Dad, however, who was experiencing things from a different perspective, remarked on how much work we did every week. What’s funny is that what we do on Friday night is only a small piece of the puzzle. Faithful people show up every week to put up signs so people can find us. Faithful people study and prepare to lead small groups in their homes. Faithful people prepare and create a fun, life changing environment for children at Planet Rev every Saturday. Faithful people light candles, cook snacks, set up hospitality, come early, stay late, greet people at the door, print programs, run sound, run lights, run graphics, count heads, provide security, count money, go to leadership meetings, practice music, set up graphics, change diapers, manage the website, plan creative ideas for services, pray, give, and on and on. Why? Because, like me, they feel privileged to have a part in creating an environment for people to hear about and experience Jesus.
It happens all over again this week and culminates on Saturday at 5:00. Be here!
