This weekend is a can’t miss experience at Revolution! We are starting Friday night with The Stations of the Cross. Our creative team has been working hard to create an atmosphere where people can be reminded and reflect on the final moments of Christ’s journey to the cross. Remembering what He did is extremely powerful and is something that everyone should experience.
On Saturday night we will be focusing on “The Good Fear.” The topic is a great night for everyone to invite someone. People are naturally more open to church attendance at Easter, so let’s be sure and invite at least one person to come experience God with us at Revolution.
There are different thoughts about Easter and what the services should be like on this day. I have grown up in a tradition that put a lot of effort into making Easter a big celebration and spectacle. Efforts included big dramatic presentations, pageants, hiring outside talent for music or acting, hours of work creating backdrops or sets, or restructuring the service in one way or another. Recently, I have been thinking about the confusion this type of effort can bring for people that only come to church at Easter or that come for the first time. What happens when they come back the next week? Things are so completely different, that they feel like they came to a different church all together. The pomp and circumstance is great for those that are in tune with what Christ has done, but might actually be a barrier to those looking to come back to God or test out Christianity for the first time.
At Revolution this Saturday, there will not be anything out of the ordinary. If you bring a guest you will be able to confidently invite them to experience the same level of service elements next Saturday and the Saturday after that. Let’s be excited about what God is doing to draw people to Himself through our community and let’s invite as many as possible to that movement.
See you this weekend!
