Musical Moves seeks to offer high quality music interventions to the following target groups;
•Young people at risk of offending and those currently under probation and/ or in prison.
•Young people with learning difficulties / complex needs
•Young people who are socially, economically and emotionally disadvantaged
By:
•Facilitating workshops, which engage participants in creative activities in a safe and inclusive environment.
•Imparting skills and learning in music, technology and live performance.
•Encouraging tolerance and empathy through team building and peer interaction that celebrates diversity.
•Promoting self-advocacy and mutual respect.
•Providing facilitators who are both professional musicians and artists skilled in engaging young people in the world of music, education and learning.
Musical Moves seeks to deliver issue-based and therapeutic workshops in partnership with other relevant statutory and / or community services.
By:
•Producing issue based workshops that address themes relevant to participants own life experiences.
•Delivering in partnership (with other appropriate services) to support workshop content and additional needs of participants.
•Using music, creative approaches and therapeutic interventions to discuss sometimes challenging issues.
Musical Moves seeks to explore and develop approaches to mentoring and /or peer education as a model of delivery.
By:
•Looking at ways to support and train participants to become mentors and peer group leaders.
•Developing different approaches to engaging young people in roles of responsibility on projects of their own.
•Enabling participants to contribute to the development and direction of the company.
•Seeking to involve local community musicians as role models.
Musical Moves seeks to use any surplus gained from corporate contracts to match fund community activities.
By:
•Running corporate seminars and facilitated sessions to promote team building.
•Raising the company’s profile in terms of consultancy and creative approaches to problem solving.
•Offering employment opportunities for participants involved in the mentoring scheme as well as local community musicians and artists.
