Hi, in the picture below theres me lending a hand on bv,s with a young singer - songwriter Andrew Cook. It was taken at a East Sussex Rockshop gig back in the day during a stirring performance of his bands version of “ There she goes” by the la,s. I was very pleased to met up with him and his dad Martin lately in london. Since then he has gone on to gain a degree in Music, and is now fitting in teaching g.t.r at the Yamaha School - tutoring young people in Bath Music Education. As well as gigging around the West Countries acoustic circuit and playing in bands. We are hoping that Andrew will find some time to work with Musical Moves in the future.

Hi All, After some liaison between Andy Silsby( Board Member of NCSC) and Sonny & Darren from the Club/Brighton,it was agreed in principle that Musical Moves would meet them with a view to delivering a music project over the summer. Jim went down to meet up with Sonny(Youth Worker) to get a feel for the place, and to discuss the best way to engage the club members to meet their needs. A further meeting with us and Sonny went really well and we agreed on a 2 day workshop to be delivered to 16 young people on 4th - 5th August 07. We were both very impressed with the facilities at the club and the energy and enthusiasm coming from Sonny. Jim and i are both looking forward to meeting and supporting the participants in all things musical during the clubs summer program.

Hi, I want to send out a big shout to Erica(Freelance Media Artist) for recommending me to her partner Stephen Shiell who was looking for a musician to facilitate a group of young people in a local Windsor school. Stephen makes musical instruments, sculptures, installations, out of junk and discarded rubbish!!. He asked me to work with some young people who had made instruments with him to create & perform a piece as part of their Arts Week activities. I was very impressed with Stephen's work and enjoyed creating music with his and the schools junk instruments. The day went well and the young people who participated worked well together and seemed to have fun at the same time.
I am looking forward to working with Stephen on future projects, and hope to employ his art-form with future Musical Moves projects.

We would like to extend a big thank you to Darren, Sonny, Lorraine, for all there support while we were delivering the Crew Club Music Workshop over the weekend of the 4th - 5th August in Whitehawk, Brighton. The young people who took part ,12 in all, were full of enthusiasm and threw themselves into the project which made for a great experience for everyone involved. Culminating in a dynamic performance at the finale of the project. Jim , Mikey, and i were very impressed with the way the crew club staff supported the participants to get the best out of the weekend. Darren took lots of pictures and shoot a video of rehearsals/concert , which looked great. While Sonny was a inspiration to all the young people with his enthusiasm and talent.
A highlight for me was the way as a group the participants created 2 original songs, they embraced the writing process and worked hard to produce some quality work.
Well Done To All
Musical Moves is all about support and facilitation to create original “new” music .We would definitely like to go back to the crew club in the future, and we are hoping to secure further funding in 2008 to achieve this.

Musical Moves would like to extend a big thank you to all the young people who attended the Studio 3 Arts “Big Deal” music workshop at the Albermarle Youth House, Romford, London. Over the 5 days participants worked very hard to write new original songs, as well as to take the opportunity to use the time to practice , network, make friends, and support each other to get as much out of the week as possible. All the participants put in alot of effort when working as a group in the songwriting sessions, coming up with material for lyrics that covered some sensitive areas. Creating a safe and supportive environment for peers to contribute, honestly, in a caring way which made for a more “cutting edge” impact at the final performance.
It is quite hard for us to pick out an individual highlight, there were so many. I would say the way the participants took charge and compered the final performance was a pleasure to be apart of.
We would like to thank Trish
(Albermarle Caretaker) for looking after us , Lee, Sarah, and all of the peer educators from the Havering Youth Service. And last but not least Kirstin (Studio 3 Project Manager) for all her help and support.
Having enjoyed delivering the project to the young people in cooperation with Studio 3 Arts, Musical Moves will in future endeavor to create more of a partnership which would form a principal part of a future relationship and co. - working.

Hi,
I had a very productive meeting with Rory Dyer and his P.A, where we discussed ideas for a music workshop , which could incorporate his musical ideas and songs as part of a accessible forum for a group of young people with extra needs. Rory has been very patiently supporting the development of Musical Moves, with a view to participating as one of the team as a peer educator on future projects. I was so impressed by his song ideas and energy, i am sure together we will be collaborating successfully .
Watch This Space!!!

October 07
As part of Crawley Community Arts “Black History” Month celebrations, Jim , Mikey, and i were invited to perform with guest horn section and vocalist from the Hooters. It was a very successful evening with a variety of acts from the local area and beyond. The name of our band is Bass Culture a 3 piece, we have been busy writing and recording our debut album, so it was nice to get out to play “live “as all bands want to do. The highlight of the evening for me was Uzambezi a south african accapela band, they had great stage presence and near perfect close harmonies.

November/ December 07
Well what can i say!!, a very busy time of gigs for us throughout November which was great but very tiring. Unfortunately Jim and i were laid up with the flu virus!! like most of the country so we had a compulsory slow down of activities during December. Also we realized that access to the Musical Moves site was restricted due to problems with our domain url provider. So we had to delay our mail out of info packs/annual report, we hope to be ready to go in the new year.
Merry Christmas to all
And a Happy New Year
