Injury prevention and rehabilitation for dancers
Pilates, myofascial release, ideal alignment, and muscular balance are all utilized to teach dancers how to avoid injury. Additionally, Jill’s ability to pinpoint counterproductive tension and movement patterns allows her to re-educate dancers in subtle details of technique so that injuries are prevented.
For dancers who have sustained an injury, Jill approaches rehabilitation in a holistic manner. Dancers will be taught to strengthen the part of the body that is damaged and to regain range of motion and flexibility. Additionally, the dancer’s whole body, movement patterns, and alignment will be analyzed to pinpoint the cause of the injury or to identify habits that might lead to re-injury. Jill then guides the dancer in developing new biomechanics to improve overall function and mobility.
When appropriate, Kinesiotape materials and methods will be applied to injuries and dancers will be trained to tape themselves and to understand how the taping can help their body and speed recovery.
