Creating interactive ePub books with Pages

Classes of students collaboratively create an interactive alphabet book in Pages and then publish on iPad for peers to read.

Workflow for this project includes:

1. 1. Assign the letters of the alphabet to the students in the class.  For each letter, students should create a sentence with the following requirements:
   

1. a. Animal begins with the assigned letter
   

2. b. Verb in the sentence is a strong action verb
   

3. c. Additional descriptive words and phrases make the sentence a well-written, descriptive, interesting sentence
   

2. 2.Search for Creative Commons images of the animals in the sentences.
   

3. 3.Record audio clip of each student reading their sentence.  (iPhone, iPod touch voice recorder or GarageBand). 
   

4. 4.Submit the photo, the sentence, and the audio clip to the teacher or the designated student ePub editor.
   

5. 5.Place photos, sentences, and audio clips on respective pages to match the letters of the alphabet in the Pages ePub template.
   

6. 6.Export the Pages document as an ePub and sync via iTunes.
