The final game of the O’Neill 7th grade volleyball season was played Monday, October 20, 2008. The Eagles played host to Boyd County for grades 7-8-9-10 matchups. In the 7th grade contest, O’Neill started slowly, showing their lack of competition in recent weeks. Behind serving rallies from Brooke Bauer, Catrina Spangler, and Addie Schneider, however, the team closed the gap to a 25-23 loss. The second game was much more one-sided, in O’Neill’s favor. Progress in volleyball skills was evident by all. 25-19 was the final score, and the teams moved into the deciding third game. Abby Krysl’s 5 consecutive serving points on the Eagle’s first rotation wasn’t enough, and they fell short in a 15-8 finale to a great season full of lots of team building for the future of OHS volleyball. Serving leaders on the night included Abby Krysl with 11 points, Brooke Bauer (6), Janet Rodriguez (5), Shelby Skopec (3), and Catrina Spangler and Nicole Babutzke with 2 points each. Congratulations to the 7th grade O’Neill volleyball girls on a great season!
