St. Mary’s Tournament
Behind strong serving of Brooke Bauer (15/17) and Abby Krysl (9/12) the O’Neill Eagles lost in the first round action of the St. Mary’s Junior High tournament in a contest against Chambers. However, the team came out much stronger in game two and defeated the St. Mary’s 7th grade team in 2 sets: 25 -20 , 25-20. Brooke Bauer added 2 kills to her 9 ace serves, with teammate Abby Krysl earning 8 ace serves out of her 9 serving points. Catrina Spangler added 2 more aces serves along with 5 serving points. The win allowed the team to move on to another match, this time with St. Mary’s 8th grade team. O’Neill was defeated in 2 sets by scores of 15-25 and 13-25. Abby Krysl and Brooke Bauer again served strongly providing 4 and 3 ace serves respectively. However, the experience of an older 8th grade team proved too much and they were handed their third defeat on the season. Next volleyball action for the O’Neill 7th graders will be next Saturday at the Ainsworth Junior High Tournament.
