PARIS DISNEYLAND DAY 1 & 2

We left Zermatt at 5:39am in the morning and it was pretty cool walking down to the train station in so early in the morning.  As we looked at the Matterhorn, we could see tiny flickers of light on the mountain as climbers started early to conquer the famous rock.  And, for us to walk through the streets of downtown Zermatt without a soul in sight, except for a few Japanese who woke up early I guess from the time zone, was enchanting.

Our train that day took us through from the peaks of the Swiss Alps to the valleys of Southern France to the Lake area of Montreux to the City of Lights and our final destination, Paris.  At the Gare de Lyon station, we hooped on a RER A train, destination DISNEYLAND and the kids, and Leslie as well, were pumped.  No more tours; no more ruins to gaze over; no more walking to see this statue or monument.  Dude, this is the “Land of the Mouse” and the Renfro Family was ready to have some fun!

We arrived around 2pm at our hotel and we decided to go take a dip in the pool (very tiny pool with a weak slide, but Ashley and Ryan can have fun with a small rock and make the best of it). So, around 4pm, we decided to grab an early dinner and head over to Disney Village and see what they have to offer in choices.  We picked Planet Hollywood and once we sat down on our table, it seems like the whole wait staff just watched us without anyone coming over to see what we would like to drink.  It must have been 10 minutes and a waiter came up and said, “I’ll be right with you” and started cleaning the table behind us and went to clean another table.  Then he proceeded to walk back to his wait-station area and start a conversation with another waiter. WHAT IS UP WITH THE FRENCH?  I come from the school of  providing 100% Excellent Customer Service and I just don’t get the French.  Leslie looked at me and we both knew it was time to walk out.   The kids are starving at this point and if anyone knows Ryan when he is hungry, WATCH OUT.  We found a burger place and had a decent dinner.  This was our kinda rest day and we didn’t purchase any park tickets and went back to the hotel.  Tomorrow was the big day in Disneyland and the next day in Disney Studios.

We hit Paris Disneyland all day and we tried to make it to the fireworks show, but from all the walking, we decided to get a nice rest to charge up our batteries for the next day. And, we had a plan of action: I went to Fast Pass the Indiana Jones ride while Leslie and the kids went to ride Ponoco and Peter Pan before the crowds--talk about “Strategery”, as President Bush would say. We hit the whole Park and Space Mountain seemed to be the favorite with the kids.  Disney Studios was fun and the kids had a good time.  I especially like this park because I am a big movie buff and this was the main theme of this park: HOLLYWOOD.

We’re off to Paris and can’t wait to enjoy a good dinner with my family.  Ashley is craving some good French Onion Soup :)
