MILAN DAY #1: We Need Another Day
Now this is a beautiful City! Our first true taste of the European feel that Leslie and I love and crave: Old-world European style city with fine restaurants, colorful markets, sycamore-lined streets and a cultural scene second to none. I think we needed another day in this City.
As soon as we got off the train, the Milan train station big and bold in stature and could well have it’s own special tour. The City is known for Fashion and you can see the locals know just that. If Rome is Old Italy, Milan is New Italy, but keeps it’s past intact. Our hotel, Glamour Apartments, was located right in the middle of Piazza de Duomo, the cultural heart and soul of Milan. The Duomo di Milano, 2nd largest Gothic Catholic Church in the world, was stunning and Leslie and Ashley was restricted to enter because of their shorts showing their knees. Although, Ryan and I was granted access and so glad that we were. This Church was amazing and grand and for our family members reading this page, we lit a special candle for you all to show how much we four love you all.
The best part of the City was it’s Central Park, which Leslie found. So much like New Central Park, it was a gathering place for families, couples and individuals to enjoy nature, relax and walk around. We saw many people just sound asleep in the green grass and others training for some type of Karate (check out the video). The kids found some Monkey bars which helped release some of their energy. I could see that Leslie loved this park and when my wife just has a constant smile on her face, all is good in the world. The kids ran and ran and ran all over the place and worked up a good appetite. We had dinner on a sidewalk cafe in the Duomo Church Square and right across from the Church. Leslie had some type of Pasta with Pesto (she said best meal yet on our trip); Ashley a Caprice Salad; I had a Club Sandwich and guess what Ryan had for dinner? That’s right, Pizza!
For only handing for one day in Milan, it was a special moment for my family and I and truly enjoyed playing with the kids and holding my Wife’s hand while we walked in the park that day. Below are the pictures and video on our day trip in Milan. On to Zermatt and Matterhorn!
