The iPad is an amazing device. Beyond being great for email, photos, web browsing, it also makes an amazing home control device.

When connected to the right kind of control system, your iPad can do everything your control system can do. Using one app, you have the ability to control your Home Theater, Distributed Audio Systems, Lighting Systems, HVAC Thermostats, Alarm, Surveillance, Pools, Irrigation Systems, and more.

Imagine seeing your pool temperature on your iPad, and adjusting the settings right from the app. Or adjusting the temperature of your home - from anywhere in the world.
Using the iPad for Distribitued Audio Control is of a different world. Having a 10" screen at your fingertips for navigation while sitting by your pool or in your Living Room is incredible.

From the iPad, you can choose what source is playing in each room, and what volume each room should be at. You can choose from many sources depending on your systems setup, but we usually like to offer your iTunes library, an iPod dock, Pandora, Rhapsody, Napster, Sirius, AM and FM.
These days, if you are building a new home, you have the option of building in a Lutron of Crestron Lighting System. A system like that would give you many advantages. A few are the ability to not have light switches on your walls anymore (like having 5 in a row in your kitchen), and instead you would have just one wall keypad "Scene Controller" that would allow you to choose lighting scenes. You would also be able to conserve energy based on the lighting scenes. You can also schedule a lighting scene to activate at any time, which is great on vacation as you can make the home look "lived in".

Even if you are not building a new home, you can always add lighting automation by swapping out your existing light switches with wireless Crestron or Lutron dimmers.
