As we inch closer to our one year anniversary of being in the new building, we are doing a little construction. We are removing the giant TV monitors in some of our studios and installing projectors and screens. We are also putting in 5.1 surround sound systems to enhance the ambiance. Studio C is near completion as it has received its screen, projector and sound system to go with its new mixing console that was already in place. The final touches are being put in place as I write this. Studio F, pictured above, is in makeover mode and will be ready to go soon. Throughout the construction we are trying to maintain as much or the original architecture that we can.

We’ve got a few more things in store to ensure that your Monkeyland experience is the best that it can be, so stay tuned.

It’s been a long time between blogs, but things have been a little busy here in Monkeyland. Over the last two months there have been a number of projects that have come and gone and some that we are currently working on. Season 4 of The Bachelorette has come to an end and we wrapped up The Clique, Greta and Anaconda 3. We also recently finished up Feast 2: Sloppy Seconds.

Currently we have got a nice variety of projects in the house. The third animation project from Unstable Fables, Goldilocks and 3 Bears, is in production and getting ready for its final mix. Edgar Allan Poe’s Ligeia is also in production and Still Waiting, the eagerly anticipated sequel to 2005’s Waiting, is in its final mix.

Coming up in August for us is Anaconda 4: Trail of Blood.

We are also continuously working on making changes and upgrading our studios to ensure that we are able to offer the best for our clients. Keep an eye out for new pictures of our studios.

One of the wonderful things about Monkeyland is the people that come in to work on their projects. When our clients come in, they are ready to work and professional. Occasionally we get a group that not only wants to get their work done, but wants to have a little fun too. Over the last two weeks we have been working on Infestation and Made For Each Other. The cast and crew for these two projects have been extremely outgoing and have enjoyed taking their picture with our monkeys. They took multiple pictures, in different poses, alone and in groups, and the results were amazing. We couldn’t post all of the pictures we took, but if you check out our photo page, you will see the results.
While we’re all business here at Monkeyland, we do like to have some fun. Pictured above is our Supervising Sound Engineer and ADR Mixer, Doug Latislaw, as he seasons some burgers and Italian sausages (these Monkeys eat more than just bananas) for our Friday lunchtime grill session. Events like this not only allow us a chance to take a break and enjoy the nice weather, but also socialize on a personal level with each other. We do allow for some shop talk, but we use these times to recharge our batteries to make sure we are well refreshed to work on all of our projects.

Last week was a busy one at Monkeyland. We had a little bit of everything going on. From commercial and animation voiceovers with Chris Rose and Jay Leno to ADR sessions and mixes. Some of the projects we worked on this week include The Bachelor, Pulse 2, Starship Troopers 3: Marauder, Infestation, Splinter starring Shea Whigham, Paulo Costanzo and Jill Wagner, The Jerk Theory with Josh Henderson, Tom Arnold and Jenna Dewan, Devil’s Dawn, Unstable Fables: Tortoise vs. Hare, and Montana Amazon. As you can see, we work on a wide variety of projects and all of our editors and mixers were working around the clock making sure every project sounded its best.
