In order to achieve success, today's students need to be information literate and life-long learners. This means they have the skills
to evaluate and use resources, gather and synthesize information, credit their sources, and use technology to communicate what they have learned. We want them to be curious and value self-improvement, the pursuit of knowledge and the search for meaning and understanding.

Our Inquiry Process Model encourages students in these skills. This model combines ideas from several research models studied by NNPS librarians including Jamie McKenzie's Resarch Cycle and Mike Eisenberg and Bob Berkowitz's Big6 Research Model. This process provides students with a circle of steps that assist them in finding, evaluating, assimilating and ethically
using new information.

The representation of our process is circular, because inquriy is not a one-way linear series of steps. Each link in the process connects in a back and forth flow so that students revisit parts of the process as needed to arrive at understanding.erynn.html
