The documentary, The Speaking Moai, focuses on the efforts of one woman, Piru Hucke Atan, to restore the cultural balance on the distant South Pacific Island of Rapa Nui (Easter Island).

Piru and her family of tribal leaders and artists are keepers of the cultural traditions of Rapa Nui. Her life’s work has been for the protection of their ancestral monuments –the Moai– and the restoration of the local burial grounds of her people.

When filmmaker Miguel A. Osorio first met Piru in 2001, she took him in as “her brother” and told him “You are the one who is going to help me tell people about this work.” Piru and her supporting staff of archaeologists take Miguel all over the island, sharing with him sacred spaces and the negative effects of the modern world presence on the island’s ecology.

The documentary provides an inside look into a woman’s passionate connection to her island and the rarely seen culture of an Oceanic people called Rapa Nui.

For their ’06 Holiday Party, BHD Studios wanted a clean video piece to loop on desktop monitors as ambience during their event. As guests arrive to view the new studio, they are entertained as the video showcase the company’s portfolio to clients, colleagues, friends and family. We used their company guidelines and brochure as a template and built the assets consistent with their brand identity.

Yo Soy Cuba is a vibrant live production produced by the Arenas Dance Company and choreographer Susana Arenas Pedroso. Produced for the Cuba Caribe & Dance Brigade, the show is a celebration of the rich and colorful Cuban culture. A crew of two operators and two cameras captured video and sound of the performance over a three night span at the Dance Mission Theater in San Francisco.

Pink-Spots provides the San Francisco Bay Area community with a comprehensive resource directory of gay-owned & gay-friendly businesses that treat all individuals in a dignified & non-discriminatory manner. This cost efficient viral video was created from a previously produced radio spot. All images and artwork was supplied by the client and animated with Motion 3 and edited with Final Cut Pro.
