On Friday, FEB 12, the Harvard University Music Department is sponsoring an afternoon symposium and evening concert on the Beethoven String Quartets. Featured presenters at the symposium include Alan Gosman, Matthias Roeder, and Joel Smirnoff of the Chiara String Quartet. The concert includes three quartets, Op. 18/3, Op. 59/3, and Op. 132. AMS-NE regrets to announce the passing of a longtime colleague. Bruce Bellingham, an esteemed member of the faculty at the University of Connecticut from 1974 to 2003, passed away on January 3rd, 2010.
