Micah Beverly

SINGER SONGWRITER | GUITAR TEACHER

I began playing guitar at age 14 in 1998 as a freshman in high school. Other than the beginning guitar class I took as a Freshman at
Lynbrook High in San Jose, CA, I am self-taught. By asking a lot of questions, playing with other musicians, and reading what music and guitar books I could find, I was able to teach myself.  After 15 years of playing in bands opening for notable artists such as Aerowsmith, Kid Rock, Dishwalla, Lifehouse, and playing many venues all around CA, I switched gears and began my Solo Acoustic Singer Songwriter career. I had written music for the bands I was in and sometimes the lyrics, but never sang. Going Solo, was my time to learn to sing. I started in coffee shops here in AZ and in December of 2009 I won Alice Cooper’s “Proof is in the Pudding” talent contest where as the winner, performed at the Dodge Theatre for Alice Cooper’s Christmas Pudding show. There were 4000 people in attendance! Then in Sept of 2010 I was selected as 1 of 6 Finalists in “BOSS Best Looper Contest” where I will compete live in Hollywood on Oct 23rd. 2010 is going to shape up to be THE year my music career starts.

BOSS “National Best Looper Contest”

Oct 23rd 2010 in Hollywood CA!

I won $2000 worth of gear!

NEWS!

October 23rd, 2010 - BOSS's "Best Looper Championship" was held in Hollywood at Musician’s Institute! They flew me out, and put me up in a hotel. I was 1 of 6 Finalists out of 178 eligible entries.

I submitted a video of me performing my original song “Midnight”. This was the same song I played at the competition. I actually played and sang it better live at the contest than in my room shooting my entry video!

I had a blast at the competition. The staff at BOSS is awesome, the other finalists were awesome too! We are all still in touch via Phone, EMail and Facebook.

I began teaching guitar Full-time in 2005. I love teaching and have quite a passion for it. Going above and beyond for my
students, I strive to be the teacher I wish I could have found when I was learning guitar. Someone who shows me what I need to learn and doesn’t rely on only asking. The layout and function of playing music on the guitar is something i have “taken apart and then put back together” so I have a clear, concise, understanding of  the guitar. Though, nothing has taught me more than teaching. My students range from beginner to advanced, children, teens, and adults. Students learn electric or acoustic guitar in many styles of music such as Rock, Singer/Songwriter, Blues, Folk, and Pop. My students live local and around the world because I provide Private Guitar lessons here in my Chandler Studio & Guitar Lessons over Webcam using Skype.

My Time is spent learning, creating and teaching music.

In July of 2005, I left my hometown of San Jose in the Northern Bay Area of California and moved out to Arizona. It was here in the Phoenix Arizona area I started teaching guitar full time and pursuing a Solo Acoustic Singer/Songwriter career.
