working with Advanced Higher Art & Design students, providing invaluable experience for those wishing to pursue a career in the Arts.


The Proposal:

Eminent sculptor Andy Scott commissioned to design an entrance for Blair Bridge canal.

St Ambrose pupils invited to approach the same in parallel, guided by artist & mentor Merlin Currie  through the professional design process.

The Art & Design students have the opportunity to impress & possibility of contributing to the concept

Andy’s professional critique of student’s work at Scott’s studio takes place when they are invited to see his evolving design process, fabrication and work practice.

St. Ambrose students present their ideas and journey to Council and Andy’s design is also put forward for consideration.

Opening takes place with Andy’s final design utilising some of the students ideas celebrating Coatbridge today, it’s past and looking forwards.
