•  HOTMATH.COM  Our school has paid for a subscription to this website.  It gives you the worked-out step-by-step solutions for the odd problems in your textbook’s main practice part of each section.  It has our school’s textbooks for 6th grade, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, and Intermediate Algebra.  All the information you need to use this website is at this link.  The one thing not there is our school’s password, which is available from your math teacher (just email and ask for it).

  1. ONLINE FROM THE TEXTBOOK PUBLISHER  Pearson Prentice-Hall, which published our new textbook adoptions, has provided some really good internet resources for you.

  1. Main page for your course:   This page lists everything Pearson Prentice-Hall has for these courses.  The first link on the page will bring you to videos for every standard that a student needs to meet in that course.  The main page also gives you chapter resources such as lesson quizzes, chapter tests, and more.  (For Intermediate Algebra, the chapters don’t exactly match our textbook.  Therefore, match by topic to find useful resources.)

  1. Videos:  These links go directly to the page for the “Homework Video Tutors.” You can access these from each section in the textbook, by looking for a little light blue rectangle box to the side of the Standards Practice problems, in every section.  Underneath the rectangle is always “Visit: PHSchool.com,” and then the Web Code for that particular section. (It’s always the chapter and section, such as 0503 for chapter 5, section 3.  The three letters at the beginning are used to identify which textbook.)  Here are direct links to the Chapter-by-Chapter page of all the “Homework Video Tutors.”  Click on a chapter to see the sections, then click on a section to see the topical videos for the section.  (For Intermediate Algebra, the chapters don’t exactly match our textbook.  Therefore, match by topic to find videos that can help you.)

  1. POWERPOINT SLIDES AND OTHER HANDOUTS  The publisher has provided powerpoint slides that match the examples in every section in every chapter for Pre-Algebra and Algebra.  These slides can be really helpful because student can see one step at a time, to better understand the procedures they need to learn.  The links that follow will be where I put the powerpoint slide files, the monthly practice test or study guide, and any handouts that I am able to make available.  For Intermediate Algebra, there are not  powerpoint slides at this time, but there will be the practice test or study guide, and any available handouts.

NOTE 1: When you go to your course’s link, you’ll have to choose the current month.
NOTE 2: To view any file, you will need to download it to your computer, by clicking on the down arrow in the circle that is to the far right of the file’s row.

  1. OTHER INTERNET RESOURCES  Over the past few years I have collected links to a number of math resources on the internet.  Some are videos, some are instructional pages, some are just interesting.   Some of these links cover just one specific topic, but some of them open up to many other good internet resources.  I can not guarantee any of these sites--parents still have to monitor and supervise students’ internet use--but some of these sites might be very helpful when looking for a resources to learn about a math topic.  Click on the appropriate course to go to my page of internet links for that course.  (These are also the “Internet Resources” that are listed on my main page.)
