It’s not just for club officers anymore
All members are welcome in this newly vamped training session that will be on January 23rd. The training will be held at Richland Baptist Church off G-Way in Richland from 9:30 – 1:30 pm. We have lined up talented speakers from within our own clubs and a hot and hearty lunch is provided. For questions please contact your Area Governor or Division Governor Sandra Maine at smaine @ owt.com. Topics include
1) Lessons Learned: an open forum among the clubs to discuss situations that happen in your club and how to move the club forward in today’s environment
2) Club Leadership: this session shares how we can grow our club into an exciting dynamic culture by embracing leadership and in doing so breathe new life into our club while maintaining the integrity of the Toastmasters Program
3) Speech Contest Rule Changes
4) Why Am I in Toastmaster?: discover ways to showcase your skills through speech contests. An area contest participant tells their story.
5) Introducing Humor: We can tell a funny story and share a laugh – but putting humor into a boring speech isn’t always easy – uncover the secret to successfully incorporating humor into everyday topics.
6) High Performance Leadership: learn the next step in Advanced Toastmasters and find out how you can put this program into action for you.

Christmas Potluck & Party

This year’s holiday party will be held on Monday, December 14th – in place of our club meeting. We will meet in the First Floor Syrah Dining Room at 7:00 pm – regular club time. Please bring a favorite dish and a gift for the gift exchange (not mandatory). Hope to see everyone (and their guest)!

Toastmasters useful in the workplace

Have you ever participated in a meeting but were afraid to express yourself?

Have you ever been passed over for a project because you couldn’t convey your knowledge of the topic?

Start saying “yes” to better speaking and listening skills. I am not a public speaker, but my confidence and ability to speak out in meetings and share my ideas has grown tremendously since joining Toastmasters. The environment of the club helps us communicate with other people and receive feedback on what works and what works better (did you catch I didn’t say what “doesn’t” work?). Come to our club and find out the magic – you won’t regret it!!

Adam Banker gets 3rd D9 TT

Adam Banker shows off his trophy that he won at the District 9 Conference. He came in 3rd in Table Topics. There were 8 contestants, so he did very well representing our club. Good going, Adam!

At the Division B Table Topics and Humorous Speech contests, Ed Garvey and Adam Banker from our club competed and did an outstanding job showcasing their skills.
Our club was well represented at the Division B Contest: Don Treiber, Club President, served as Table Topic Master, Thomas Skinner was a judge, Marion Smith was a ballot counter, and Sandra Maine, Division B Governor, was Contest Chair.
Congratulations to Adam Banker for his remarkable presentation. He won 1st Place Table Topics and will move on to District Contest in October.
