The Value of M?
The Value of M?
(Note: I have since been told that my working out is wrong. Quite wrong in fact..... I’ll fix it when I’m not so tired from packing.....)
After finishing my McDonalds Double Quarter Pounder tonight I was reading through the blurb inside the lid. Looking at the equation at the top of the box, I had this odd curiosity regarding the value of M:

Broken down the first half is:
18000000: The amount of beef (in Kg) McDonalds Australia bought “last year” (whenever that was),
2.2: The number of pounds in a Kg and,
4: The number of 1/4 pound patties in a pound of beef.
First thing I noticed is that the “x 4” is incorrect, as it’s essentially saying that each burger has 4 pounds, not 1/4 pounds of beef. Adjusted, the equation looks like:

With this in mind I worked through the equation to find the correct value of “m”:

So, as you can see the value of “m” is 1.000000000000039. What does this mean? I have no idea. LOL
