As a southern California native Mari studied design at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, Los Angeles. She began her own business creating original bridal wear and specialty gowns before taking a position at Bakersfield College as a costume technician and instructor. Mari was also the primary designer for the prestigious Kern Shakespeare Festival and has designed over a dozen repertory productions.
Mari is now an Oregon resident and in her fourth year at Lane Community College as the costume designer and instructor for the theatre, dance and music department. She currently teaches stage make up and will soon be teaching an introductory costume design course. The new class will include basic sewing, costume rendering and building a simple hand painted costume.
Mari has been married to her husband Doug for over 30 years and has two adult sons. When she is not working Mari enjoys travel, music, doll design and fiber arts.
