2009 APS Pond Tour

Just once a year, the members of the Austin Pond Society open their gardens and water features for you to see and experience.  Save the Dates: July 18th and July 19th, 2009.

Do plan ahead.  There is much to see and it is unlikely that the most tireless will be able to see and savor each and every pond on the tour.  Please go through the descriptions and photographs you reach by clicking on the tabs at the top of the page and be selective about what you wish to accomplish.  Review the Interactive Map at: http://www.communitywalk.com/2009PondTour  Or view the individual maps on each tabbed page and plot out your days.  Certain sites will be open only during the day of Saturday, July 18th.  Several more will be open that evening, to display night-lighting.  Still others will be open only during the day of Sunday, July 19th.

Hours:     Sat-1 thru Sat-16: Saturday July 18th Day from 9 AM to 5 PM

Nite-1 thru Nite-4: Saturday July 18th Evening from 8 PM to 11 PM

Sun-1 thru Sun-12: Sunday July 19th Day from 9 AM to 5 PM

Your $15 dollar purchase of a Wristband gives you entry to all sites.  See as many as you like or concentrate on spending time at the special few that interest you.  Your Wristband purchase is not refundable.  Wristbands are $12.50 in advance, when purchased at: http://www.austinpondsociety.org/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=1&Itemid=1&vmcchk=1&Itemid=1

Pond owners and volunteers at each site are available to answer your questions.  Many ponds and streams were owner-built while others were professionally-installed.  Owners can tell you their experience in building and maintaining a water feature.  Some will share information on wildlife that is attracted to the area since the pond or stream was built.  Other owners will have plant lists and many know their fish by name and personality.

A separate $20 bus ticket will reserve an air conditioned bus with restroom on Saturday or Sunday.  It proved a much more comfortable way to travel during our 2008 tour and you can’t get lost.  Your reservation is refundable if you can’t travel or we do not have sufficient interest to make the bus available.  Your reservation is $20 for Saturday and/or $20 for Sunday.  Tickets may be purchased at: http://www.austinpondsociety.org/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=1&Itemid=1&vmcchk=1&Itemid=1
