Aquarium Restaurant

This is quite possibly the best restaurant in Nashville...in my own humble opinion.  It’s a family-friendly restaurant with a gargantuan fish tank replete with eels, sharks, and fish with eyes the size of tennis balls.  They’ve got a pretty good seating system too.  Families with young children are usually seated on the inner ring of tables, closer to the tank, while couples and other groups of adults are seated on the outer ring of booths.  Of course, if you don’t like seafood, then you’re kinda out of luck here.

My husband was awesome, as usual, and took me out to the Aquarium Restaurant for by birthday.  Seeing as how it was my special day, I got to treat myself to anything on the menu.  I usually get the Mariner’s Mixed Grille, which is quite possibly the best surf and turf I have ever had.  Shrimp, lobster tail, and to sirloin all grilled and served with potatoes and squash with zucchini.  Nom nom nom.  This time, though, I decided to go with something different.  I went with the Broiled Captain’s Platter.  It’s a seafood extravaganza!  Fish, shrimp, crab, more shrimp, scallops, oysters, and lobster tail.  Mmmmmmm.

Overall, I really liked it, though there were some bits that were not to my taste.  The stuffing in the crab was a little spicy.  Okay, it was probably fine for the average person, but for a pansy like me, it’s pretty unappetizing.  That was really the biggest thing.  I am still unsure of whether or not I like oysters, but I know that that I didn’t not like them.  They also have a really nice selection of wines, from which Mike and I ordered a bottle of Reisling.

I will warn anyone going that it is really easy to spend a lot of money there really fast.  Mike and I can spend $80 on dinner easily.  All in all, I’m a really big fan of this restaurant and recommend it to anyone looking to have a really nice, unique dinner out.
