With the Clamshell there are a lot of possibilties to go online, even the iBook G3 SE’s market launch was back in 2000.
- With the integrated Network Adapter you can connect to an existing network, to a fast DSL connection or to a cable modem.

- It is one of the fastest analog modems, a 56kbps built in. To check your mails or surf the net wherever there is a phone line available.
- Surfing in a wireless home network or at available HotSpots in your favorite beach bar or coffee shop.
- Even if none of the infrastructure above is available, there is always the chance to check your mails or hook up with your buddies over instant messaging direct from the beach via BlueTooth and your cell phone. I use a Motorola ROKR for this purpose. It’s cheap, has iTunes on board and sync’s very well with the iBook. (Addressbook, iCal)

I’m still working on an extra entry for the Motorola ROKR and his possibilties with the old macs.

On a cooly day on the beach you can play a lot of games with the keylime. If you have two of these machines you can even play against each other.

Dasboard and iTunes

With the MacOS X.4 comes a lot of stuff to have fun on the beach, on a raining day indoors or at night to check for the next days.
For the dashboard are widgets available to check the weather, the tide or watch out via webcams for the next spot. If you only want to play a small game, you will find it here. Link to Apple Widgets Page
By now everybody should have heard about iTunes. But did you know that there are Podcasts or even VideoPodcasts in iTunes you can subscribe for free? Check this out (iTunes)

If you click of 2 of the videocast pictures, iTunes will open and take you to the Video Podcast Directory “Sports”

Only with the free Video Podcast’s you will enough stuff for a couple of raining day. That you can listen with iTunes to your own tunes or your favorite radio station, I think I don’t need to mention

The 466Mhz Modell was not only the latest and fastest Clamshell iBook, it was also the only one with a DVD Drive build in. The build in video chipset was one of the fastest in a mobile computer in 2000. (ATI Rage Mobility (2x AGP) with 8MB VRAM)

So you can watch your favorite Movie’s or Music DVD’s right on the bright screen. Full screen or window mode. On the road or whenever you have the desire to watch a movie. A good batterie last for 2 regular movies in a row.

But the SE Modell has not only he possibility to watch movie or other content on the screen itself, With the integrated Composite Video Out A/V you can connect the iBook to a large TV screen or a beamer. You only need the suitable A/V cable and a TV/Beamer with the right connectors
