Opening with reverence to the introspective days of mid-Autumn in beautiful, colorful, Up-state New York; let our hearts catch fire as we come together for, "The Essential Kirtan & Yoga Workshop". This weekend is for those who wish to deeply immerse themselves in the practice of Kirtan and Bhajan, and to dive deeper into the art of joyous meditation through heartfelt song.
Kirtan is an integral part Bhakti Yoga or the Yoga of heart transformation, and devotion.
This is a fantastic opportunity study yoga and kirtan intensively for one weekend with our expert and inspiring instructors. Some students may just want to recreationally explore our workshops on meditation, asanas and kirtan. Perfect. Others may choose to get hands-on comprehensive harmonium or kartal (Indian hand cymbals)lessons from our group leaders and even learn how to lead. Now matter how deep we want to dive it-it will all be sweet!
We’ll all learn different ragas or melodies for the different periods of the day, as well as mantras and their meanings and their potency. We’ll get English translations to traditional Hindi, Bengali and Sanskrit devotional songs as sung by the sages of previous ages. On Saturday evening we will host a large community Kirtan (workshop students enter free of charge) led by the Kirtan Master Gaura Vani and our students are encouraged and welcome to participate . Special guest dancer Vrinda Rani will perform to the music we create.
Most of all we’ll get a chance to get our batteries charged by association with like minded people who want to move, breath, sing, and evolve!
