Ship Finder is a great app that provides real time information on ships across the globe. It’s easy to use and is fully integrated into Google Maps. It’s easy to switch between map views and details and even pulls in photos of most ships.


Ship Finder is also great for the serious vessel tracking enthusiast using real time feeds and plots from popular ports and seaways around the world.


Ship Finder works by picking up AIS Ship Plotter feeds used by all vessels to transmit their name, position, destination and lots more.

Frequently Asked Questions


If I have Ship Plotter software can I use Ship Finder to link to it?

Yes. Just enter the web data feed URL into the app. We can even include it in future releases.


Why is the feed not working?

Sometimes feeds are turned off or not available. pinkfroot have no control over the internet feeds used by the application.


Can I use Ship Finder for navigational purposes?

Definitely not. Like all AIS internet feeds Ship Finder must not be used for navigational purposes.


How do I change the ship feed?

Just click the tools icon, spin the selector and click set. The selector will show you the list of feeds currently included in the app. 


How do I enter a custom feed?

Go to the iPhone/iPod Settings and select Ship Finder from the list.


Do I need to physically be in a chosen location to see the ship data?

No, you can view the ship data regardless of your physical location and can switch between the feeds we have included.
