Mark Simkin - Australian Broadcasting Correspondent

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation's (ABC) North America television correspondent, Mark Simkin, is based in Washington.

He spent four years in Tokyo as the ABC’s North Asia correspondent, responsible for coverage of Japan, North Korea and South Korea.

In 2004, Mark headed ABC radio’s news and current affairs coverage of the Athens Olympics.

In Australia he was the ABC's National finance correspondent, and worked as Economics Correspondent and Co-Bureau chief for radio current affairs in the Canberra press gallery.

He has won or been a finalist in a range of international and domestic media competitions, including the New York Festivals and the Walkley Awards.

Mark will give an Australian's perspective on life and politics in Washington, as well as talk about life as a foreign correspondent.

Lesli Foster - Journalist & CH 9 News Now Anchor

WUSA-TV’s Lesli Foster is an Emmy award-winning journalist who anchors the 9 NEWS NOW weekend morning newscasts.

She has covered everything from the aftermath of the September 11th terrorist attack on the Pentagon, to the 40th Anniversary of the March on Washington, to the Serial Sniper story, to Chandra Levy’s disappearance and murder, to HIV/AIDS and the "Down-Low."

Lesli is a featured journalist in the book, "Women Journalists at Ground Zero," by Judith Sylvester and Suzanne Huffman, which documents the personal experiences of 24 female journalists who covered September 11th.

Journalism, she says, is her life's work, and an essential way to make a difference in the lives of people.
