I often think of reworking my website.  I think I will make it new, exciting - perhaps I will say something worth reading.  Then I begin.  I start picking out photos, thinking about how I want to present myself, what I want to say.  After I begin, it all seems like pointless drivel.   So here is some pointless drivel…

I’m a professional philosopher (that sounds crazy).  I have a BA in English and in Philosophy. I went to the University of Washington in Seattle for my undergraduate work. I have a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.  I am currently employed in the Philosophy Department at California State University Long Beach.

I work in early modern philosophy, particularly in the 17th century.  I also work in philosophy of religion.

I regularly teach Introduction to Philosophy, Philosophy of Religion, and MA courses in history and philosophy of religion.

I’m a native Californian.  But I’m not a native of SoCal.  I don’t like the sun.  I find it oppressive.  What am I doing here?  I ask myself that everyday…

WHY DO WE DO WHAT WE DO?
