Team Objective

The objective of the U12G Spring Select Team is to have fun playing soccer at a higher level of competition than the fall season and to further develop each player's individual skills and understanding of team tactics and strategy.

Eligibility

To be eligible to play on the 2009 U12G Spring Select Team, a girl must have:

1. (1)Been born after July 31, 1996,
   

2. (2)Been on the roster of a Palo Alto AYSO Region 26 team during the Fall 2009 season, and
   

3. (3)Played in at least 50% of her fall team's regular season games.
   

Team Formation

Two competitive teams consisting of 13 to 15 players will be formed.

Players will be chosen for the 2009 U12G Spring Select Team based on the quality of their play during the Fall 2008 season and their performance at the tryouts. Factors that play a part in player selection include skill, speed, effort, understanding of the game, sportsmanship, practice habits, commitment to improving soccer skills and physical conditioning, commitment to attending two practices per week and to participating in both tournaments in May, family volunteer commitment, the team's positional needs, team chemistry, and the recommendations of fall season coaches.

Tryout Information

Formal tryouts will be held in late October early November if weather permits. The detailed tryout information can be found here.

Unlike the Fall season, the Spring program is selective and not every player who is interested can be accommodated on a team. Player selection is solely the responsibility of the coaches. While some players who played in a previous Select season may be chosen for the 2009 team, participation on an AYSO Select team in a previous year is no guarantee of selection to the 2009 team.

Cost

Once a player has been offered a spot on either team, they accept by writing a check to the team for $500. We expect the final costs per player to be in the range of $350 and a refund will be given at the end of the Spring season. This fee covers the cost of field usage, uniforms, league fees, tournament fees but not the cost of accommodation or transport for games and tournaments.
