Kendall. Gayle. Hopkins.
I was born March 4, 1982. There are three people that I would like to dedicate to my existence. First, the Lord because when I read Psalm 137 I think he had played a big part. Second, my dad Kenny. Third, my mom Sweet.
Three years into my life my parents decided that I was such a blessing why not have another one. So my sister, Ivy, was added to the Hopkins Family . There were no more children produced after my sister. But we (meaning my sister and I) have a theory that there should have been kid number three. A son named Kenny Jr. who would have been round, chubby, and mischievous like our dad. We would have loved him dearly. But kid number three is just a figment of our imagination.
We ended up with Betsy instead. A mutt that barks and is really slow going to the bathroom.
I grew up going to Richardson First Baptist. I loved it.
I went to Big Springs Elementary. I was in safety patrol and thoroughly enjoyed waving and smiling at all the cars driving by that sometimes I would forget to actually “safety patrol.”
I went to Apollo Jr. High. I learned a song about prepositional phrases and still can sing it to this day.
I went to Berkner High School. I was a cheerleader. I was not good at flips but had really sharp motions, high jumps, and a really loud voice.
I went to Baylor University and at the end of four years the I obtained a degree in Religion, ran the bear trail too many times to count, drank way too much Cowboy coffee, and dressed as Cher for Pi Phi rush skit.
I did ATS. Worked at Starbucks in Belmead. And continued to wear bright lipstick.
I moved to Seattle. Planted a church along with six others. Now Mosaic Community Church is rocking and rolling.
Moved back to Dallas........were I was born and raised.....maybe my process was not done and that is why I am back..........
