Just like having a baby, you forget all the pain and suffering that went into it. Pain memories fade (thank goodness) as does what it takes to mold your pup into that “perfect family dog”. You know, the one who doesn’t wake you at 3 am to play tug-o-war, or who doesn’t relentlessly chase the family cat, or who doesn’t think our other dog is a furry play toy. sigh.... Good thing puppy’s are so darn cute. And this one, well, let’s just say she melts our hearts with one tilt of her cute little puppy head. Can you guess what she is?
She’s a blue Great Dane that we named “Blu”.... I guess that way we’ll never forget her pedigree. And paired with our black Great Dane, you can say we are officially black & blue now.

My poor blog has not been the priority it should have been. I mean really... who wants to read really, really old-out dated blogs? So sorry. Sometimes “life” just happens- and we get sidetracked with all the little pieces. Well, I’ve picked them all up and I’m ready to devote more attention to my poor neglected web site.... Yep, I’m working on it as I write this :-)
More soon!

“Creativity is not the finding of a thing, but the making of something out of it after it is found.” James Russell Lowell (1819-1891)

For 5 days in April, I was so fortunate to experience a little slice of creative heaven!
I had the opportunity to attend a Keith Lo Bue metal jewelry class at the breathtakingly beautiful Valley Ridge Art Studio in Muscoda, WI. All I can say is....wow!
What a clever Aussie (Keith lives in Sydney, Australia). The week long class dove into his creative world of found object assemblage and collage. We searched the fields and roads for castaway items and turned them into unique wearable art. The following days we learned new riveting techniques, used a copy machine for etching, and used steel to create exciting new chain designs.
Keith is truly inspirational. (And has great legs... that’s him in a kilt in the class photo.)
You can check out his unique website here: http://www.lobue-art.com.
And if you, too, want to experience Valley Ridge, just visit Kathy’s site here: http://www.valleyridgeartstudio.com/index.asp. Classes fill up Speedy F A S T- so be sure to get on her mailing list for ’08.

This incredible event is an opportunity for area high school girls, who might not be able to purchase a new prom dress, to choose from hundreds of new and gently used donated dressed, complete with on-site alterations, absolutely FREE! The ’07 new member class put in hundreds of hours to pull off this spectacular event- including collecting new and gently used dresses, lining up numerous celebrity volunteers, contacting media outlets, and building 13 new dressing rooms! You girls are incredible!

Our family is the proud owner of two Great Danes... one of which is Brutus- a very large 160 lb male- who is the biggest chicken of a dog you’ll ever come across. Here is some proof.... We keep the dog food bowls in the basement (they’re not the neatest diners.) The other day, Brutus was barking incessantly at the bottom of the basement stairs. When I went to check on him, I found him cautiously lurking around the corner and staring at his filled dog bowl in the next room. Curious as to what the heck he was doing- I looked around the corner and noticed our kitty sitting atop a ladder that had been there for a few days. Apparently a 6 foot kitty was a little too intimidating for Brutus. Life with a Great Dane... it’s not what you’d expect!

Recently I was asked to create a mask for the 2007 Hospice Masker-aid in Madison, WI. Local and national artists and celebrities are given a blank clay mask in which to embellish, paint, collage...whatever fancies their imagination. It was a very fun & creative endeavor. I used metal beads and findings for her face and her hair ribbons spelI HOPE, LOVE, PRAY. I only hope she acquires a bid or two. All proceeds benefit HospiceCare Inc.
